Hey everyone, welcome to dental Lightners! 
When we used to be in our first year, we used to find it very difficult to study those big, fat books 😕. And obviously we couldn't go throw the entire book a day prior exam. 
But unlike you guys we didn't had any other choice . We used  to mug up the whole text and vomit the next day . 
But you guys don't have to worry about it now 😁 .
We have created this blog solely with the purpose of helping all those dental students who are going  through same problems as we were going through in our first year! 

Here we provide concise , easy to understand ( even if you study at the the last moment) notes of different subjects! 

Now your next and most obvious question would be 

Why should we study your notes? Are they reliable? 
We totally understand your concern and it's good to know the source from where you are learning. 
Guys, we are students of one of the top most dental college of  India,Christian Dental College, Ludhiana. 
These notes are made from your  standard textbooks. 
To know their credibility you can compare them with your textbooks! It's always good to be sure ( "smiles")
 
                   Today's Topic 

Today we will give you a breif introduction about dentin and will provide you with the notes of dentin !

                 

   
What should you know about dentin ? 
Dentin the second most layer of tooth . It is dark yellow in color and provide elasticity to tooth . 
 
Though it the second layer of tooth ,one should not forget that it's is the first formed layer of tooth
( If you have any doubts regarding development of tooth then do go through our notes on development of tooth . ) 

Since, it is the first formed layer of tooth it forms general form of crown and root surface . It forms the bulk of the tooth . 

Following are some of the functions of dentin :-

1.)High modulus of elasticity.
2.)High compressive strength.
3.)High tensile strength.
4.)It is viscoelastic in nature and         changes its form when external force is applied and recovers after       force is removed.
